You Can Now Stitch Looms Together: Launching our No. 1 requested feature

Introducing video stitching in Loom—the latest editing tool designed to help people collaborate with their teams and create more powerful videos at work.

Today we launched video stitching—the latest editing tool designed to help people collaborate with their teams and create more powerful videos at work.

One of the best parts about Loom is the ability to share a video instantly with anyone, at any time, and from any place. But when it comes to creating said video, it can feel limited; it’s usually just one person recording at one time, in one place. We’ve seen our more crafty users get around this in a variety of creative ways, but those workarounds have typically been time-consuming and require using multiple editing platforms.

The good news is that’s all about to change.

With video stitching, users can now record at different times, on different devices, and with different people to create a single, powerful video – all in Loom.

Why We Built This

When it comes to our product roadmap, feedback from our users’ is our north star. We know video stitching is a capability people are excited for; in fact, it’s been the No. 1 requested feature from our customers. It unlocks an entirely new realm of use cases.

However, one of the main reasons our users love Loom is how instant it is. We know sophisticated editing tools can help users communicate in a myriad of creative ways but, to us, it’s important to preserve the simplicity and speed of recording and sharing looms. Or, as our CTO Vinay Hiremath put it: “editing a loom should never get in the way of actually sharing it.”

That’s why video stitching was purposely built to be sophisticated in function, but delightfully simple in form.

With video stitching, users can now record at different times, on different devices, and with different people to create a single, powerful video – all in Loom.

Here’s How it Works

Once you record a loom, all you have to do is click the “Add clips” button that now appears as part of your editing options. That button will allow you to add or insert another video at the start or end of an existing video.

Combined with our existing trim feature, this new stitching tool means users can perfect the delivery, content, and flow of their looms at a whole new level of detail. And it all happens in the easy-to-use, cloud-based platform you’re already familiar with.

A Whole New World of Loom Use Cases

Our hope is that video stitching unlocks an entirely new set of use cases for our users. Even just in the short amount of time we’ve had beta users and internal Loom employees testing the stitch feature out, we’ve already seen people use it for projects that wouldn’t have been possible beforehand. Here are just a few examples of the most frequently cited use cases for stitching videos:

These examples are just a small slice of the collaboration and customization we expect Loom’s new editing tools to open up. And, in addition to sparking ideas for net-new use cases, we also hope this makes our users feel more comfortable about recording in the first place. When you have more control over your final product and how it’s viewed, you can record with confidence.

We’ll be sharing examples of how our teams and our customers use these new tools to power storytelling at work soon. Stay tuned.
