Today, Atlassian is announcing end of life for Data Center products, a transition that will unlock greater innovation and agility for every Atlassian customer. Over a three-year period, we will gradually shift Data Center customers to cloud, while introducing a dedicated support program to help enterprises succeed.
In conjunction with Data Center end of life, Atlassian will wind down the sale of Data Center apps over a three year timeline. The Atlassian Marketplace has long been pivotal to our customers’ success, providing the depth and breadth of solutions necessary to support teamwork in every industry and domain. As we transition to a cloud-first future, our ecosystem will become even more key to supporting customers’ evolving needs. Together, we have the opportunity to create the best experience for our shared customers by placing our full focus on cloud.
This will be a multi-year journey, and partners won’t face the process alone. Atlassian is here to support both customers and partners every step of the way.
What does this mean for Marketplace Partners?
The sale and renewal of Marketplace apps will gradually ramp down along a three-year timeline:
- December 16, 2025: New Data Center apps can no longer be submitted to the Marketplace.
- March 30, 2026: Sales of new Data Center subscriptions and Marketplace apps will end for new customers.
- March 30, 2028: Last date for existing customers to purchase new Data Center licenses, Marketplace apps, and license expansions.
- March 28, 2029: Data Center end of life. All Data Center licenses and associated Marketplace app licenses will expire and become read-only.
Important Exception for Bitbucket Data Center Apps
We recognize that source code management is uniquely sensitive for customers. To provide maximum flexibility, we’re introducing a new license option that grants access to both Bitbucket Data Center and Bitbucket Cloud so customers can choose the environment that best fits their needs.
Because of this, Bitbucket Data Center apps are exempt from the end-of-life timeline outlined above. These apps will continue to be available and supported in the Atlassian Marketplace.
Why now?
With the vast majority of Atlassian’s 300,000+ customers already benefitting from cloud, Marketplace Partners are already seeing cloud fuel their growth. Cloud is the only way for modern organizations to thrive, especially as AI continues to transform how teams work.
Marketplace Partners have developed a rich ecosystem of cloud apps, including cloud equivalents of solutions used by Data Center customers and entirely new solutions only possible in cloud. We are also seeing Marketplace Partners drive innovation by extending new surfaces of our cloud platform, like Rovo and Teamwork Graph. At the same time, partners have been raising the bar for trust and enterprise-readiness. Programs like Runs on Atlassian are making it easier for enterprise customers to find cloud apps that provide data residency and protect customer data behind strong egress controls.
With this strong foundation in place, Marketplace partners are well-positioned to capture the cloud-first opportunity, supporting Data Center customers through their journey to cloud and unlocking new revenue streams as organizations modernize how they work.
