OK, ok, maybe it’s just wrong to quote Steppenwolf’s Magic Carpet Ride for a blog post about Gartner’s Magic Quadrant, but it just felt right on a jubilant Election Day in the US.
Gartner’s popular Magic Quadrant for Social Software 2008 is out and Atlassian scored huge on the survey. Atlassian was recognized at the top as a leading company in the market for social software and team collaboration, based on our vision and execution. Congratulations, team, for putting Atlassian on top of the competition!
Of course, there’s still a lot of room to grow, especially considering that no one was listed in the magical “Leaders” quadrant! For two years in a row now, that infamous little square has been empty. But Atlassian made huge strides year over year.
- In the last 12-months, the number of Confluence customers has doubled. You can hear from a few of our new and old customers on our monthly Voice of the Customer webinar series.
- The number of free plugins has exploded. There are over 300 extensions for Confluence now that are largely built by and supported by the community. You can hear about some on the Plugin of the Month webinar series.
- And the product has made great strides with the new (free) Office Connector and scores of other feature improvements
- And even though this report focuses mostly on Confluence, Atlassian’s other products are also very focused on team collaboration, and are flush with social features. Jira Studio, as an example, allows technical teams to track updates from teammates across a team’s projects’ issues, documentation, source and code reviews though activity streams.
