Some of my favorite memories from early on in my career are when I was completely immersed in code, Pink Floyd playing in the background. When I joined Atlassian as CTO three years ago, I wanted every developer here to experience that. I knew from my own experience that it’s not just about writing more code; it’s about removing the friction that gets in the way of your flow.
So we set out to improve developer productivity alongside developer satisfaction, and we’ve seen an incredible transformation: We went from 49% developer satisfaction to 83% in three years, all while pull requests per engineer rose by 89%.
