Introducing Atlassian Software Collection
Measure and improve productivity, quality, and speed with the world’s first AI-Native SDLC for every team
Some of my favorite memories from early on in my career are when I was completely immersed in code, Pink Floyd playing in the background. There’s nothing quite like that sense of flow, when you are building something you love, without distraction, and it’s just you and the problem you are solving. That’s developer joy.
When I joined Atlassian as CTO three years ago, I wanted every developer here to experience that. I knew from my own experience that it’s not just about writing more code; it’s about removing the friction that gets in the way of your flow.
So we set out to improve developer productivity alongside developer satisfaction, and we’ve seen an incredible transformation: We went from 49% developer satisfaction to 83% in three years, all while pull requests per engineer rose by 89%.
Every time I share our journey, other engineering leaders ask, “How can we do that too?” The truth is, it’s no easy feat. Achieving developer joy requires more than just good intentions—it demands the right combination of tools, modern ways of working, and a robust way to measure what’s actually working. And as AI becomes a bigger part of the equation, the challenge only grows more complex.
Today, I’m excited to share that the very solution that unlocked developer joy for us is now available to your team: the Atlassian Software Collection.
What is the Software Collection?
Atlassian Software Collection is uniquely positioned to bring together AI-powered apps and actionable insights across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC). It’s designed so engineering leaders can see exactly where teams are stuck—and why—and know whether their AI investments are truly driving results.
The collection includes:
- Rovo Dev (now generally available 🚀): Your AI teammate for planning, coding, reviews, and automating repetitive work at scale. Rovo Dev accelerates the SDLC by removing friction, improving code quality, and keeping developers in flow. Try it here.
- Bitbucket Pipelines: CI/CD automation to build, test, and deploy software faster and more reliably.
- Bitbucket: Source code management built for speed, scale, and team collaboration—now available in cloud and hybrid licenses.
- Compass: A unified catalog with scorecards to manage software component ownership, standards, and governance across your entire software ecosystem.
- DX: The newest addition, bringing together qualitative developer experience surveys and insights with quantitative productivity metrics like PR cycle time, build/test failure rates, and AI usage.
Simply put: Software Collection is how developers stay in the flow, and how leaders ensure AI investments pay off.

Rovo Dev is here! AI That Gets Your Whole World
We first introduced Rovo Dev in beta at Team ’25 Anaheim, and customer feedback collected over the past six months has been clear: it’s become an essential partner for removing friction and improving code quality.
Rovo Dev isn’t just about faster coding. It’s about reimagining the entire software development lifecycle. By accelerating iteration cycles, enhancing code quality, and unlocking real AI-driven leverage, it turns development into a strategic advantage.

Now, I’m excited to share that Rovo Dev is generally available.
Rovo Dev is your context-aware AI agent for the entire developer journey. Powered by Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph, Rovo Dev understands your company, your projects, and your goals—and connects the dots across Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Compass, Jira Service Management, and more. It’s not just about code: Rovo Dev brings together business context, documentation, tickets, and code history, so developers always have the full story at their fingertips.
What makes Rovo Dev different?
- AI that knows more than just your codebase: Rovo Dev leverages deep organizational context – across tickets, docs, incidents, and business goals – so developers can make smarter decisions without chasing information.
- Stay in the flow, everywhere you work: Rovo Dev follows you wherever you work – whether that’s an IDE, your terminal, Bitbucket, or GitHub. No more hopping between tools or losing context – just one AI partner across your workflow.
- Automate the repetitive stuff: Let Rovo Dev handle PR code reviews, documentation updates, dependency cleanups, and more. Keep your developers in the flow with agentic AI to tackle all of the friction that get in the way of delivery.
- Delegate end-to-end workflows: Rovo Dev automates the routine while keeping developers in control, so teams can scale delivery with confidence. Go from issue to PR, including branches, commits, and reviews, or run large-scale changes in parallel across projects.
Want to see Rovo Dev in action? I thought you’d never ask. Here are a few of my favorite Rovo Dev capabilities that are available today, with more coming over the next few months:
Rovo Dev in CLI: AI-powered workflows directly from your terminal.

Rovo Dev Code Reviews: Automated code and acceptance-criteria reviews in Bitbucket and GitHub.

Rovo Dev in Jira (coming soon): Assign coding tasks and let Rovo Dev handle them end-to-end

Troubleshoot pipelines with Rovo Dev: Debug and fix build failures automatically.

DX is Joining Atlassian (and our Software Collection)
A few weeks ago, Atlassian announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire DX, a leader in engineering intelligence.
Today, I’m thrilled to share that DX will become a key component of this powerful Software Collection upon the close of the acquisition.
In a world where AI is transforming how software is built, leaders want to know if their investment in AI is truly helping their teams deliver better software, faster. DX helps answer that question, giving engineering organizations the data and insights they need to measure, benchmark, and improve developer productivity, with a special focus on AI’s impact.
By bringing DX into Software Collection, we’re giving customers:
- Measurement of AI adoption and impact, so leaders know what’s moving the needle versus what’s adding noise.
- 360° visibility into developer experience, combining qualitative feedback and quantitative signals to identify where flow breaks.
- Real-time insights into developer productivity and system health, enabling leaders to uncover hotspots and investment areas.
Together, we’ll help world-class engineering teams amplify their impact, make smarter investments, and unlock developer flow in the AI era.
