Pledge 1%: a new model for corporate philanthropy
Back when Atlassian was a very small company, we made a pledge to divert 1% of equity, 1% of product, 1% of profit, and 1% of employee time to charitable causes–a corporate philanthropy model pioneered by Salesforce. We made that pledge publicly so our customers and staff would hold us accountable. And it worked. Twelve years later, we have helped over 250,000 children in the developing world get an education they wouldn’t otherwise have had access to through a partnership with the Room to Read foundation.

It was lamented that, when you share a page and include a note, those thoughts are read by one person, then […]

My life runs on Jira: sommelier edition
Nobody will ever accuse me of being a wine snob, what with my unsophisticated palate and refusal to spend over $30 per bottle. But I know what I like, and when I find something I like, I tend to grab a few bottles to have on hand. This has led to me to build up a […]
Task management with Confluence and Jira
I’d like to take a few moments to share how task management in Confluence relates to Jira. Both products enable teams to collaborate using task management and distribution. Confluence works well for smaller business teams, whereas Jira excels for larger projects. Getting from here to goal People rally around goals. For goals to be actionable, we need to break them […]

Managing vacation days with Jira and Confluence
Here at Atlassian, we love using our own stuff. And when we’re not busy building kick-ass new products, we’re usually off finding new ways to use our stuff internally.
