AI is transforming how software gets built, but with new tools and faster delivery come new questions: Are we building the right things and delivering real business value, or just moving faster for speed’s sake? Are our investments in AI and automation actually making our teams more productive, or just adding to the noise?

In today’s world, it cannot just be about shipping faster—it’s about building smarter, investing in AI wisely, and unlocking the full potential of your dev teams.

Atlassian’s approach to DevOps is rooted in that idea—and we believe this is why we’re being recognized again. For the third year in a row, we’ve been named a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for DevOps Platforms. This year, we’re proud to be placed highest in Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

Three-time leader, one clear vision: AI-assisted DevOps

DevOps isn’t just about writing code – it’s about everything that happens before, during, and after. And as teams race to build faster and smarter, Atlassian is reimagining the entire software lifecycle with AI at the core.

We’re putting powerful new tools into the hands of not only developers, but the entire software team with Rovo to assist workflows across the software development lifecycle, all backed by our secret sauce: the Teamwork Graph.

Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph connects work across Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Compass, and third-party tools to give every team shared context. That means less duplication, fewer silos, and more flow, from idea to code to production.

With AI agents that know your codebase, understand your team’s domain expertise, and can even take a first pass at a PR review, we’re helping automate the work that often slows teams down: defining requirements, reviewing PRs, fixing bugs, updating libraries, onboarding new devs. With Atlassian, those tasks aren’t blockers – they’re handled.

We’re already seeing the results. For example, Rovo Dev is live in the CLI and helping developers understand new codebases, implement features with web-integrated research via MCP servers, and assist in complex code migrations, all without leaving the terminal environment. It’s already number one on the SWE-bench full benchmark leaderboard, achieving the highest score of a 41.98% resolve rate across 2,294 tasks and surpassing all other AI agents.

Here’s what one customer had to say about our latest in AI agents:

Rovo Dev Code Reviewer is an incredible sense check on our pull requests. With no additional effort, every PR is analyzed to find those issues that are out of reach of a linter like variable naming, missing comments on complex code, loose typings and common gotchas with standard protocols. It has earned its place in our workflow as a complement to traditional linting and testing.

Adam Ahmed, CTO at released.so

With Atlassian’s unified platform and AI that truly understands how your team works, this isn’t just DevOps – it’s a whole new system of work.

We’re just getting warmed up

Being named a Leader is a huge honor, but we’re already on to what’s next: shipping new AI capabilities that keep developer workflows humming and teams in sync.

Here’s a peek at what’s coming:

Even more AI-powered experiences: We’re going all in on AI-powered orchestration and partner agents to save devs from repetitive tasks they love to avoid. From updating libraries to generating technical documentation, and generating code plans to checking code changes against Jira work items. Automated. So devs can do more of what they love: building cool things, not chasing process.

Quality management built in, not bolted on: We’re making it easier to embed quality checks directly into the dev workflow. Teams will be able to bake in best practices for security, cost, reliability, and observability early in the development process, while automated checks will catch issues before they become problems.

Smoother handoff between Dev and Ops: We’re also tightening the loop between incidents and releases. With instant insight into things like service health, dependencies, and status, teams can ship with more confidence and handle issues before they escalate.

Rovo Chat built into Bitbucket: We’re adding metadata from our source code management and CI/CD solution into Rovo Chat, so devs spend less time hunting for information. With Rovo, devs can instantly locate pull requests linked to Jira issues, code repos and relevant Confluence docs, and other information across Atlassian and integrated tools—right where they do their work.

One more (big) thing: DX to join Atlassian

ICYMI: Atlassian has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire DX, a leader in engineering intelligence.

In a world where AI is transforming how software is built, leaders want to know if their investment in AI is truly helping their teams deliver better software, faster. DX helps answer that question, giving engineering organizations the data and insights they need to measure, benchmark, and improve developer productivity, with a special focus on the impact of AI.

By bringing DX into Atlassian’s System of Work alongside tools like Rovo Dev, Jira, Bitbucket, and Compass, we’re giving customers:

  • Measurement of AI adoption and impact, so leaders know what’s moving the needle versus what’s adding noise.
  • 360° visibility into developer experience, combining qualitative feedback and quantitative signals to identify where flow breaks.
  • Real-time insights into developer productivity and system health, enabling leaders to spot bottlenecks and investment areas.

Together, we’ll help world-class engineering teams amplify their impact, make smarter investments, and unlock developer flow in the AI era.
